Brian Hart – en
In 2012, we lost a great friend of the works carried out by the Congregation of the Benedictine Missionary Sisters, Brian Hart from England. Since the time of martial law, he had provided material and spiritual support to the centers in Puławy and Lublin, and later in Ełk. He inspired faith and courage and shared ideas for the development of our projects, especially the Farm project. We decided to dedicate this work to his memory.
During Brian’s funeral, a pastor praying with us—who was also the head of the RAF Chaplains’ Organization—declared that the donation which the chaplains allocate each year to a selected charitable cause would be given to the construction of the Brian Hart Farm. The amount of GBP 25,000 was of great help at the early stages of construction and became an ecumenical sign of Christian unity.
On the first building erected on the Farm, we placed a commemorative plaque in Brian’s honor. On August 25, 2013, his daughter Susan, together with her husband Geoff, their granddaughters Lara and Clare, as well as Brian’s friends from Lublin, took part in the symbolic unveiling of the plaque. Brian’s family continues to stay in touch with us and supports our activities.
